Auto Steering Defects
A properly functioning steering system is one of the most integral parts of an automobile. Steering defects can cause a driver to suddenly lose control of a car. The defect may manifest with no warning, giving the driver little or no time to prevent a crash.
Steering-related defects can take many forms. A steering ball joint may fail, causing a vehicle’s front end to drop onto its front tires. A steering relay rod, which connects a vehicle’s steering wheel to the bottom wheels, can snap into pieces, allowing a tire to move independently. A steering wheel that has been improperly assembled or secured too loosely can detach from its column, leaving the driver with no way to control the automobile. In some cases, a steering defect can lead a vehicle to become unresponsive, even when the driver is turning the wheel. Each of these defects can cause serious accidents and injuries.
